Scanmongering Monday :: Hitler and the Hippo

Aaah, what a day. To celebrate the birth of Adolf Hitler, The Sun today launched SunTalk, an online radio station and right wing campaign vehicle. Equally distressing, there is a man cutting down a tree in the garden that backs onto mine. I don't really know why he's doing it and I really want to stop him, but I guess it's his tree. Bah. Now the damn sun's gone in. What a day!

Right, this week's Bookscan comes from a children's book. Give me the name of it and you might win this week's prize, a copy of Men Who Hate Women and the Women Who Love Them: When Love Hurts and You Don't Know Why by Dr Susan Forward. So, if you don't recognise the hippo in the sky, why not have a guess?...

Is it one of Hitler's illustrations from Das Kinders' version of Mein Kampf?

Ooooh, you're close. Apart from the Hitler thing. Move away from Hitler.

The Sun has a radio station? How they are going to get Page 3 in?

La Bête said...

They do the jingles. Like: 'Hi, I'm page three girl, Erica, and I always listen to Gordon Smart, the Prime Minister of Showbiz on Sun Talk.' Seriously.

Hippos Go Berserk! by Sandra Boynton
?

Either that or the hippo is enjoying a 420 trip (unlike me)!

Sigh

I's not Hippos Go Berserk! by Sandra Boynton, but I'd just like to point out that that book is really good.

What's a 420 trip, AnnAnon?

No, it's not Hippos Go Beserk! Dan is quite right.

Pity that's the sun going in, and not The Sun going down.

I thought this would be easy with google... so many books of hippos.

And I really wanted the prize. sigh

although looking more closely I don't suppose it could be the children's illustrated version of To the Lighthouse? I never did understand that book.

Jonathan Livingston Seagull?

La Bête said...

IL, I know, I know. Sadly, no.

Daisy, you're just being silly now. Keep it up!

Stripey, I'm sorry. It's good. It's not right.

Suds, is there a hippo in Jonathan Livingston Seagull? I really can't remember. Anyway, again, sadly, no.

Next!

Perhaps if there HAD been a hippo in Jonathan Livingston Seagull, it would have been tolerable. Everything's better with hippos.

Is it wrong for me to not like a man who I've never met who is cutting down a tree I've never seen? I think I might have some latent lumberjack hate hiding in me.
I empathise with you Stan, blooming tree chopper downers!

I haven't actually read Jonathan Livingston Seagull. I had a friend when I was a teenager who tried to convince me of its worth, but it all sounded very suspicious to me. I just said it cos there was a seagull.

I too tried to use google, but got nowhere.

I don't know why I'm writing this comment. It contains nothing useful, entertaining or valuable and I have no clue what your book is. I'm just avoiding doing any work.

Plus, heard the news about the hippo that may be fed to the other Zoo animals?

Sharon, hello. Is everything better with hippos though? I mean, really. What about The Wire?

Top work, Daisy. You should be on the telly.

Swebe, would that it were. Would that it were.

No, it’s not wrong, Dan. If anything – in my opinion at least – it’s right.

Suds, GET ON WITH YOUR WORK!

AnnAnon, what an education you are. I didn’t know about that dope thing, and I didn’t know about Farasi. Poor, sweet, innocent Farasi! Don’t feed him to the big cats, you bastards! What a world we live in. Eh? Eh?

Anonymous, erm… Have you come to the wrong place? If not, I think you’ve stopped taking your meds again, haven’t you? Go on now. Back on the meds.

Mark Farley used to be one of my best friends, and the lover of my dearest enemy. What's going on here?

La Bête said...

Was he the kind of chap who might put someone's kids at risk?

Catofstripes said...

Nah, although he was some sort of college lecturer. Can't be the same bloke.
