Aaaah, Sicily...

I've just discovered, I am going to be without internet probably until Wednesday. This is something of a blow. But I have my laptop with me and will be writing stuff all the while, so I'll be back with a vengeance just as soon as I can.

In the meantime, I don't know, tell me something about yourself. Sometimes it feels like we don't talk anymore. What are you up to? What's going on?

Dimmi tutto.

ahhh... my father's homeland. hope to visit someday. something about me? i'm half sicilian, half hillbilly. that means i can knee-cap you, while towing your car with duct tape and pantyhose (tights). i'm very brown at the moment... that's the sicilian part. that loves the sun. yes, i know it's bad for me, and i should run to my car in the daytime just like the dermatologists all say i should. damn skin cancer. i like being brown.

I'm off to Scotland in the morning, and will run the Edinburgh marathon on Sunday. Then I'm heading out to (even) sunnier climes on Monday, for five days of loveliness.

I was planning to take William Boyd's 'Restless', for my poolside reading. But Will might have just been usurped by 'one of the most exciting new literary talents of 2009'.

It looks completely delicious - well done to you and your elbows.

I've just moved to the grim north from Japan, so I'm going to be exploring my new hometown. Have a great weekend.

1. I was born without wisdom teeth.

2. I amuse my wife by throwing my discarded underwear into the air with my foot and catching them on my head.

3. I cook a mean cassoulet.

4. I see colours when I think of numbers. 2 is yellow, 8 is orange.

I am a terrible traveler, so I like reading blogs by people who go places I'll most likely never see.

I have been trying to quit smoking for 20 years.

I first kissed my boyfriend when he was 14 years old. He found me again 32 years later, and we took up where we left off in high school.

I like it when you are "chuffed."

I'm nearly finished reading your book, and I have a lot to say about it.

I hope you're having fun.

I'm having a blogging Saturday and am thoroughly enjoying it. What better way to pass a free day then to be lazy and read blogs and leave senseless comments. Enjoy yourself in Sicily and feel no remorse about the lost posts. We'll get by without you somehow.

Just do me one favour, and make sure you get your hands on some proper, homemade Cannoli while your there. But they have to be made by an old Nonna, no younger than 90 years old. They're the best. It takes 90 years to perfect the process.

Hello, Bete! Not much going on in my neck of the woods, other than we had a fabulous thunderstorm last night that shook my whole house as I sat outside on my deck watching the lightning. I'm a weirdo, I LOVE LOVE LOVE thunderstorms! Unfortunately, on the news this morning, it was reported that the storm caused several fires in the area, including a house fire, as well as flooding. I must be crazy to calmly sit outside with a beer to watch these storms!

What am I up to? Broken cars, sick babies, general moping and, coincidentally, a wedding. Which was mucho hectic but sometimes fun.
